Wildflowers Never Die
Wildflowers is a non-fiction account largely following the careers of five CIA agents during the first three decades of the Cold War. It recounts Cold War espionage and the deadly conflicts that were spawned during that period, including the Korean War, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos and Tibetan resistance.

That Golden Year
A new fictional novel about Raymond Sinclair, a high school sprint star, who goes to Vietnam after joining the Marines. Sinclair is seriously injured and relegated to using a cane while walking following release from active duty. His old high school happens to be looking for a girls track coach and takes a chance on hiring him but it’s rough start on several levels. He succeeds on garnering the trust of his young athletes and under his coaching, they begin to excel in their respective events while coming together as a team. The girls reciprocate, helping Sinclair with his rehabilitation program such that he’s able to walk again unassisted. This feel-good story is semi-autobiographical of the author’s own personal experience.

Stories of a Lifetime
“Randall Howlett is a great storyteller, whether telling his own stories or re-telling those of others. So, I was excited to hear about his upcoming book, “Stories of a Lifetime.” It’s a compilation of 24 unique stories by unique characters living in diverse places during interesting times.
Given Randall’s worldwide experience, it goes without saying that he has a few stories of his own to tell. But “Stories of a Lifetime” also features a potpourri of characters, events and experiences, from flying clandestine missions with Air America in Laos during the 1960s, nuclear bombs accidentally falling from a NATO bomber over Spain, and his friend getting kidnapped by militants in Afghanistan, to name just a few.
Therefore, ‘Stories’ is not just your usual straightforward narrative. It’s very much an exciting reading adventure.”
– Peter Boczar, Author of “Searching for Uncle Larry: A Missing Airplane Mystery”
Taking the High Road
This historical non-fiction book chronicles the history of Vail and Leadville, Colorado starting with the latter’s beginnings in the 19th Century following the Silver Boom. The boom led to mining in the nearby small towns of Red Cliff and Gilman and the railroad stop in Minturn. As the silver boom dissipated, mining changed to other ores and the ski area of Vail would later come into being in 1962. Leadville today is the highest incorporated city in North America whereas Vail, only 28 miles away, would became a world-renowned ski resort. This large format book has color and b&w photos and also maps.
“Randall’s desire to preserve nature coupled with a love for history and the Vail Valley compelled him to write a historical narrative unlike any other. This one hundred year account of historically rich Eagle and Lake Counties is most definitely worthwhile reading.”
– Charles Troxel, longtime Eagle County Resident
“Meticulously researched, this book gives voice to characters that comprised the tight knit mountain communities… “Taking the High Road” is an engaging read that leaves a lasting impression after flipping the last page.” – J. Cavillo, Battle Mountain alumni
